New members sign-up process for Ericsson employees

Welcome to the new Cross Country (Längd) skiing section
The ESIK cross country skiing club has more than 200 interested and many active participants.
We have two main trips every year to Orsa Grönklitt, first trip second week of December, around Lucia, and second trip is normally the second week in January. We will post information about trips here well in advance.
We hope the new web environment will be great for sharing information for employees, pensioners and even to friends who would like to join us on trips, i.e. based on availability.
The Cross Country section also helps out with ski-races like "Öppet Spår" and Vasaloppet, as well as the Ericsson skiing championships, (used to be hosted in Idre Fjäll). More info will be posted!
We try to also do some roller skiing training sessions during the autumn in Kista (or at some alternative track).
Outcome from first Cross-Country country meeting

Ten people attended the meeting on 24th of April. That was really excellent.
We now have a board. The following people are involvedw (ill agree roles at a meeting, might be others who couldn’t attend):
- Dominic McAleenan (chair)
- Magnus Wennberg (ordinary)
- Belen Valcarce-Perez (ordinary)
- Jan Ekström (ordinary)
- Ulf Söder (deputy)
We took the decision to be formal as a section. With training and competiton as well as support for travelling to seeding races.
We will work to have more ski trips to Orsa. We will investigate going by bus. We will have coaching in December, but will add freestyle/Skate. We will poll interest in a February and March trip as well.
We will orgnaize training sessions and support for new comers utilizing the great artificial tracks both north and south of the city.
A poll will be created soon addressing the December trip which will be the Lucia weekend, and the January trip which will be either the second or third weekend in January.
We will be trying to avoid clashing our trips with Alpine, though in some cases that is not possible.
Thanks to everyone who attended.

Planning for winter 2025/2026 CC/Längd

Hi all,
The season is over. I last skied Friday two weeks ago in Ågesta. It was a good season there at least. Some of you maybe skied Lofsdalen at the weekend, and Easter is just around the corner. We need to look ahead.
We don't have a board for the cross-country skiing section. Myself (Dominic) and Jan have organized the trips to Orsa. And I do the Vasaloppet and Öppet Spår trips where Ericsson pays for the buses (which they will continue to do in 2026).
I'd like to offer the opportunity to join in a conversation about our group. What would like to do more of? How can we maybe train together? Do we want to have rollerskiing sessions? Would we like to have more trips, a bit like the Alpine section? Should we look into taking a bus instead of 10-15 cars? Would that be a help or a hindrance?
Now we also have several fantastic articficial tracks, Täby, Sundbyberg, Ågesta, Nacka GK, Lida and Rudan to name a few and we could try to have sessions at a few of those. How about even having some competitions again. Norrskidan and Söderskidan still exist and other clubs particiapate.
If we want to do more, it might be good to have a board that can help out with planning. I want to at least book the cabins for Orsa for the coming season as soon as possible, so my proposal is that I will add all of you to a teams meeting. It will be an evening. At about 7 pm. If you want to join, please do that, if not just decline. If you can't but have ideas, or want to contribute, send me an email.
Let's make the most of our section. Talk to you all soon,
BR
Dominic
(PS I was elected chair of Ericsson Sports Federation 2025-2027) a few weeks back. We will continue to try and do things with other Ericsson clubs too.
Orsa Grönklitt trip 9-12 January 2025 open for booking - Update!!

Register for Grönklitt January 2025!!!
UPDATE! Sorry for the spamming, but we have 5 cancellations with people who will lose their payment and if you are interested in joining us on Thursday please reach out. Orsa has had masses of snow in recent days and we can expect the whole system to be open this weekend. If you know someone that is interested, please share the above link to register.
Currently we are 39 participants and 48 places in total i.e. one empty Cabin for a group of 6 people. There are 48 km of well prepared ski-tracks as of today, January 7th.
The weather forecast looks very -3 to -8 C and no snowfall, but with at least 30 cm of new snow on top of the 30 that is already lying.
----------------------------
There are currently around 40 people registered for the January trip. This is the same weekend as the Craft ski marathon. We have 60 beds booked so we still have capacity.
This is usually a really nice trip with lots of snow and 13 km of trails. Well worth the effort. Remember you can share the link with friends as well. They pay 300 SEK more, but it is still a great deal.
The cabins in January are larger and most of them have their own sauna.
Share with anyone you know is interested.
Dominic and Jan
